Hope Sustained: Educating for Peace in the Philippines & Indonesia

In 2017, Tanenbaum Peacemakers in Action, Rev. Jacky Manuputty and Deng Giguiento connected with fellow Peacemakers Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye in Mindanao, Philippines, and later in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

In Mindanao, Pastor James and Rev. Jacky met with Deng and a gathering of religious leaders to explore their role and further develop their own methodologies in peacebuilding and interreligious dialogue.

Pastor James, Rev. Jacky, and Deng then united with Imam Ashafa in Yogyakarta to meet with prominent members of the Indonesian government and grassroots peacebuilding activists. Drawing on their decades-long experience in reconciliation work and international advocacy, the Nigerian Peacemakers facilitated an interfaith workshop – the fruits of which will soon be developed into a written publication.
