Our Policies

Tanenbaum uses its best efforts to respect and protect the privacy of our online visitors and donors. We will not share your personal information with any third parties if you indicate that this is your preference. This includes name, address, financial information, and email address. Personal Information

We do not collect personally identifiable information from you unless you voluntarily and knowingly provide it. If you make a donation, register for an event or register for our newsletter, for example, we may collect your name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, and credit card information. If you provide personal information, we may enter that information into our constituent database and contact you in order to:

  • Complete voluntary surveys seeking feedback for quality and service improvement purposes

Donor Privacy Policy

We will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. Tanenbaum is committed to respecting the privacy of our donors. We have developed this privacy policy to ensure our donors that their information will not be shared with any unaffiliated third party.

We collect and maintain the following types of donor information:

  • Contact Information: Name, organization, complete address, phone number, email address
  • Payment information: credit card number and expiration date, and billing information

Tanenbaum uses your information to complete a transaction, communicate back to you, and update you on happenings that pertain to our mission.

Tanenbaum will never sell, rent or lease your personal information to other organizations. Use of donor information will be limited to the internal purposes of Tanenbaum. To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation. Credit card transactions are processed securely. Credit card information is never retained by Tanenbaum.

We use high-grade encryption and security protocols (Secure Socket Layer-SSL) when processing financial transactions. This method is the industry-standard security protocol, which makes it difficult for anyone to intercept the information you send us. Inside Tanenbaum, data is stored on password-protected servers. Our staff is educated about the importance of safeguarding your information. However, such precautions do not guarantee that our website is invulnerable to all security breaks. Tanenbaum makes no warranty, guarantee or representation that the use of our website is protected from viruses, security threats or other vulnerabilities and that your information will always be secure.

Donors are encouraged to contact the Tanenbaum Operations Department to access their personally identifiable information and/or change it. Tanenbaum additionally recognizes and incorporates the Donor Bill of Rights, created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

  • We provide access to our organization’s most recent financial statements.
  • Donors have the right to be informed of our mission, as well as the way we intend to use donated resources.
  • Donors receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.

Security Procedures

Tanenbaum has security measures, such as firewalls and frequent malware scanning systems, in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of your personal information under our control. We take reasonable precautions to prevent these occurrences.

Standard web server traffic pattern information

General traffic, site usage, and length of stay information is collected. This type of information is used to help Tanenbaum improve the functionality of our website and such information is not linked to individual visitors.
