The Unlikely Journey: A Story of Jewish Resilience

Dear Friends,

We are so thrilled to be hosting our founder, Dr. Georgette F. Bennett, for a reading and discussion of her new book Half-Jew Full Life. The event will be held on March 31st at the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Greek and National Shrine located at 130 Liberty Street in Manhattan.  Doors will open at 5:30pm and the program will begin at 6pm. Register here to attend.

Dr. Bennett’s book follows the story of one of her family members born to a Jewish father and a German mother, Gary “Pips” Phillips, as he chose to declare himself Jewish through becoming a Bar Mitzvah despite living under the increasingly hostile authoritarian rule of Nazi Germany. It is a vivid retelling of his journey from Berlin to a new life in the United States, brimming with the details of an adolescence and adulthood shaped by truly unfathomable circumstances and choices. I do hope you’ll be able to join us for an evening that celebrates a remarkable life.

Sincerely,
Rev. Mark Fowler, CEO, Tanenbaum
