Tanenbaum Launches LGBTQ+ Youth Health: The Role of Religion
New York, NY, March 11, 2024
In 2023, at least 510 anti-LGBTQ+ bills were introduced in state legislatures across the U.S., many of which fell at the intersection of LGBTQ+ health and religion. With rising challenges to accessible care for LGBTQ+ youth of all backgrounds, Tanenbaum’s Health Care team created LGBTQ+ Youth Health: The Role of Religion, a training module to help health providers navigate the intersections of religion, belief, and LGBTQ+ health.
“Considering the importance of religion as a social determinant of health and its impact on the overall well-being of individuals, the module, LGBTQ+ Youth Health: The Role of Religion, is at the frontline of transforming healthcare and religious thought for LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and communities, especially during a time of global division.” Said Christine Rodriguez, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, MDiv, MA, FNYAM of Yale School of Nursing.
“This significant contribution not only leads to the acquisition of new knowledge at the intersections of health and religion, but most importantly allows for the development of affirming organizational systems that ultimately strive to uphold inclusive models of healthcare delivery.”
