Tanenbaum Celebrates the Passing of Resolution for Inclusive Education

“I am elated to share that Tanenbaum joins a coalition of faith-based, interfaith, and secular organizations in celebrating the passing of Resolution 0095, a monumental step forward for religious diversity and inclusion in New York City public schools.

Through our years of education programming at Tanenbaum, we know that when students actively learn about religious identities, they build essential social and emotional skills like active listening and respectful curiosity. These skills help them recognize and effectively challenge stereotypes. Res.0095 ensures that students of all religious backgrounds are seen, supported, and respected by their peers and teachers.

After four years, the passing of Res. 0095 proves that tangible change can be accomplished through collective advocacy and partnership. It also shows the urgency in creating classrooms that reflect the vibrant tapestry of our city, empowering young students to become engaged and empathetic members of society. We are grateful to the Muslim Community Network for spearheading this initiative, and to our coalition of dear friends across faith and secular communities who remind us what can be accomplished when we put our shared values to work.”
