Leaving their Mark: Student Voices from Kittatinny Regional High School

Dear Friends,

When teachers inspire students, they build active thinkers and engaged citizens. When students inspire each other, they can create something that transforms an entire community.

Last Spring, we visited Tanenbaum Network of Inclusive Educators member Mary Houghtaling’s Holocaust and Genocide Research Center at Kittatinny Regional High School and shared an interview with Mary and her students. We are excited to continue this series with another video featuring two Kittatinny Students, Abbie Niemasz and Sophia Yanaga, as they take us through a tour of the Center.

I wanted to leave something with people that would really open their eyes and their perspective,” says Sophia, one of the students who helped found the Center. In this video, we hear how Sophia and Abbie contributed to the Center, their messages of empathy, empowerment, and their hopes for the future.

Click here to tour the Center with Sophia and Abbie, and stay tuned for more in this series.

Thanks to Sophie and Abbie for your hard work, passion, and creativity. Seeing how you have left your mark on Kittatinny Regional High School reminds us all of the power of student leadership.

In unity,

Rev. Mark Fowler, CEO, Tanenbaum, and the Education Team
