Today, Tanenbaum honors the International Day of Non-Violence by highlighting the work of Peacemaker in Action Yeny Gloribel Nolasco Quijada.
Having witnessed the devastation of violent conflict in El Salvador, Yeny has dedicated her life to promoting peaceful alternatives through initiatives like peacebuilding workshops, organic farming, and community theater. One way she channels her grief is through poetry, writing in memory of those lost and as a powerful call to action for us all to work towards a sustainable, non-violent future.
Today and always, we celebrate the tireless efforts of grassroots activists like Yeny who work to foster a culture of peace every day. As you read Yeny’s poetry, may it serve as a reminder of the ongoing, and often unseen, work promoting non-violence around the world.
In peace,
Rev. Mark Fowler, CEO, Tanenbaum, and the Peacebuilding team
