Tanenbaum is pleased to announce our first recipient of the Justice Bridge Builder award, Dr. Mounir Bouchenaki. This prestigious award is given to individuals or organizations that actively promote equality for all, including marginalized groups.
Dr. Bouchenaki has served 25 years at UNESCO, as Assistant Director-General for Culture, Director of the Division of Cultural Heritage, and Director of the World Heritage Center. His efforts protect cultural heritage sites that serve as catalysts for dialogue between varied cultures and religious groups. Recently, Dr. Bouchenaki has brought to light the interventions made by the Republic of Turkey in the controversial conversion of the Hagia Sophia and Chora Monastery UNESCO World Heritage Site into a mosque.
Please join us on Wednesday, October 19th at the Edison Ballroom in New York City (or virtually via livestream) as we celebrate Dr. Mounir Bouchenaki’s work. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities can be found here!
