Dear Friends,
Thanks so much to those of you who joined us for last night’s conversation with Dr. Georgette F. Bennett as we discussed her new book, Half-Jew Full Life: The Unlikely Journey of a Voluntary Jew from Nazi Persecution to the American Dream.
The book is a profound exploration of a life lived under circumstances that are strikingly relevant today. Together, we examined the nature of identity and how Pips’ journey can be seen as a testament to resilience itself. The evening was an invitation to listen intentionally, stay curious about one another, and to take that next step toward building a more respectful and inclusive world. As Georgette highlighted:
“Storytelling is so important. You can provide data and statistics, but if you want to grab the attention and motivate the general public, you have to tell the human story. That’s what this book does. It starts through the lens of one person’s life and tells the bigger story of identity, and what is the price we can pay for maintaining our identity.”
It was a pleasure to be hosted by the Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine. We are tremendously grateful to His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, Father Andreas Vithoulkas, and the entire staff at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church for their support.
If you were unable to attend, please consider supporting our work by donating here or here exploring our new Monthly Giving Circle.
Thank you for joining us – see you at our next event!
Warmly,
Rev. Mark Fowler
