Prof. Sahar Aziz
Director, Center for Security, Race and Rights at Rutgers University Law School
Sahar Aziz is a Professor of Law, Chancellor’s Social Justice Scholar, and Middle East and Legal Studies Scholar at Rutgers University Law School. Professor Aziz’s scholarship adopts an interdisciplinary approach to examine intersections of national security, race, and civil rights with a focus on the adverse impact of national security laws and policies on racial, ethnic, and religious minorities in the U.S. She is the founding director of the interdisciplinary Rutgers Center for Security, Race, and Rights (csrr.rutgers.edu).
Michelle Koch
Executive Director and Board Member, Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee
Michelle Koch is a co-founder and the Executive Director of the Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee. She studied music theory and audio engineering at Hunter College, the Aaron Copland School of Music, and the Institute of Audio Research. After more than a decade as a music teacher, she co-founded the Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee and co-led the organization’s exponential growth. Michelle focuses her efforts on expanding programs and community outreach, creating volunteer opportunities, and speaking at events throughout NYC. She is a passionate believer in the power of active listening, dialogue, and personal relationship-building to bring massive sustainable social change. Her current work focuses on the MJSC initiatives Love Your Neighbor, Compassionate Conversations, and Interfaith Space. Michelle is a We Are All New York fellowship alumni, and serves on the board of International Human Rights Arts Festival.

Raised in Harlem and the Bronx, Rev. Mark Fowler oversees all of Tanenbaum’s program areas and works with operations, fund development and communications. Mark has been involved in New York City’s education community for over 20 years and is a skilled facilitator/trainer who has worked with teachers, counselors, administrators and students. He is a sought-after keynote speaker and facilitator in all of Tanenbaum’s core areas, and has addressed organizations globally on issues of equality in race, gender, sexual orientation and religion.
