Balancing Beliefs & Care – Navigating Healthcare Conscience Objections

Dear Friends,

Conscience objections arise in health care when providers refuse to perform certain medical services due to deeply held moral or religious beliefs. Changes to legal protections for conscience objections have raised concerns about their impact on minority groups, especially the LGBTQ+ community.

Join us on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 12 – 1 PM EST, to explore the complexities of conscience objections in health care. This important conversation features perspectives from experts in ethics, law, and medicine.

Hear from expert panelists:

  • Abram Brummett, Ph.D., HEC-C, Assistant Professor, in Department of Foundational Medical Studies, at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine; clinical ethics consultant for Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital.
  • Kristin Collier, M.D., FACP, Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, at University of Michigan, Director of the University of Michigan Medical School Program on Health, Spirituality, and Religion.
  • Dov Fox, Esq., Herzog Research Professor of Law and Director of Center for Health Law Policy & Bioethics, at University of San Diego School of Law.
