New Prize Recognizes Tanenbaum Peacemakers

The Fondation Chirac’s first Conflict Prevention Prize was awarded on November 6th to Imam Muhammad Ashafa and to Pastor James Wuye for their efforts in Nigeria. Just up today: you can watch videos, see pictures and download their speeches! Click here.

Imam Ashafa and Pastor Wuye received Tanenbaum’s Peacemakers in Action award in 2000. According to them, this helped to launch their career outside of the continent of Africa. Seeing them smiling next to Kofi Annan and President Sarkozy, it is easy to see that they have indeed become global examples of religious peacemaking.

Congratulations to the Imam and the Pastor!! We look forward to celebrating with you in person at the next Peacemakers in Action Working Retreat in Abuja, Nigeria (June 2010).
