Dear Friends,
Since Friday, I – like so very many in this nation and across the globe – have felt the deep pain, horror and fear that the tragedy in Connecticut evokes. I have received personal notes and statements of grief from some friends. I cannot fathom how this killing can happen.
The children we lost in Connecticut (and the children we are losing every day in armed conflicts across the globe) are all precious. It seems to me that this is true for all people of faith, and for those who do not believe in faith but who honor morality, human rights and life.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by the terrible tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. A very long and painful road lies ahead.
We wish, more than ever, for a more peaceful world.
With sorrow,
