Peacebuilding: Catholic Theology, Ethics, and Praxis

Tanenbaum is happy to draw your attention to the release of Peacebuilding: Catholic Theology, Ethics, and Praxis, released by Religion and Conflict Resolution Advisory Council Member R. Scott Appleby and his colleagues at the Catholic Peacebuilding Network.

This powerful new publication explores the work of Catholic peacebuilders in societies afflicted by conflict from Colombia to the Philippines, Indonesia and South Africa. The volume examines the ways in which these committed individuals prevent and resolve conflicts, and rebuild war-torn societies. Scholars also highlight the challenges of peacebuilding in theory and practice. The essays encompass a range of topics including reconciliation, forgiveness and human rights. Through these discussions, the essays develop a coherent approach to peacebuilding that coincides with the Catholic ethics of war.

The book is not only useful for scholars and practitioners that seek to understand and apply a theological approach to peace, but also to Church agencies and individuals dedicated to helping the humanitarian cause at large. We at Tanenbaum are happy to see others in the field highlighting the use of religion as a force for peace.
