Following Tanenbaum’s four-part Spring Speaker Series, we are pleased to provide an upcoming two-part Fall Speaker Series. The focus this fall will be on the intersection of race and religion, with an emphasis on how these identities and their intersectionality can impact, and be impacted by, the workplace. Across two dates, Tanenbaum CEO, Rev. Mark Fowler will speak with two thought leaders who have each recently published books on this topic of intersectionality.

Join us on Thursday, October 1st for Mark’s conversation with Dr. Khyati Y. Joshi, author of White Christian Privilege and professor of education at Fairleigh Dickenson University. They will discuss Christian privilege, normativity, and hegemony in the United States. Furthermore, attendees will learn more about the ways in which white Christian privilege disadvantages racial and religious minorities in America – and how workplaces can proactively counter those disadvantages.

On Tuesday, October 13th Mark will speak with Robert P. Jones, Ph.D., author of White Too Long and CEO and founder of Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI). They will delve into the relationship between American Christianity and white supremacy, drawing on historical analyses and PRRI’s research on the topic. Their conversation will illustrate the ways in which the long and fraught intersections of race and religion in the U.S. continue to shape the present.

We are grateful to the support of The Walt Disney Company and Rice University’s Boniuk Institute for Religious Tolerance in making these conversations possible. Both conversations will include closed captioning provided by Vitac.
