Death with Dignity Laws

Death with Dignity laws allow terminally ill adults to request and receive medication from healthcare professionals in order to end their lives. As of the release of this module, in January, 2025, the following U.S. states or jurisdictions have Death with Dignity Laws.
- California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington.
- Legal access to Death with Dignity is evolving and changing. For updated information on which U.S. states have passed laws regarding Death with Dignity, visit deathwithdignity.org.
