March 8, 2023 is National Registered Dietician Nutritionist Day. Religious teachings often influence the food people prepare and eat. Food symbolizes communion, culture, and tradition. Patients work closely with dieticians to build meal plans in accordance with their belief practices and access food with peace of mind.

Tanenbaum’s resource Trigger Topics: Where Religion and Care Intersect highlights fifteen distinct areas in which religion becomes salient during patient care, including Dietary Requirements.

We express our gratitude for the dieticians that ensure patients receive meals and dietary accommodations that align with their religious traditions.
