A partnership for LGBTQ+ care at faith-based hospitals

During a time when religion can be perceived to be in conflict with other identities and beliefs, Tanenbaum’s funders allow us to dispel stereotypes and explore ways forward. A partnership with the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation has supported the development of a white paper that examines tensions that can exist for some faith-based hospitals in caring for LGBTQ+ identifying patients and recommends practical approaches for addressing them.

Continued partnership with the Foundation has allowed us to expand our online learning offerings, and author an updated white paper introducing further recommendations for faith-based institutions to create more LGBTQ+ friendly health care spaces. Through these and other efforts, we are igniting important conversations on faith, health care, and ensuring that everyone has access to inclusive, quality care.

Partners like the E&L Carpenter Foundation help us directly address challenges that can sometimes emerge between different beliefs and identities through thoughtful, non-judgmental experiential training and education.
