The Power of Poetry! Free Lessons from Tanenbaum

Dear Educators,

March 21st is  World Poetry Day, a day established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to celebrate the role of poetry in enhancing cultural life throughout the world.

Poetry provides an excellent way to explore issues related to religious diversity and identity. It gives students a means of communicating their feelings, experiences and beliefs – and it helps students to better understand their peers.

Poetry promotes empathy, it affirms our common humanity, and it bridges differences. We can find no better example of the power of poetry than this stunning performance by two young women, one Muslim and one Jewish, at the 2013 Brave New Voices Quarter Finals.

Let Tanenbaum help you bring the power of poetry into your classroom.
