News & Events

Great, you have a blog. So what?

Here at Tanenbaum we’ve got our fingers in a lot of pots.  We’re entrepreneurial, committed to our work and above all, busy.  So why are we adding to our workload with this blog?  Don’t we have enough to do?

That’s not a rhetorical question: we don’t.  Unless we’re reaching out, trying to engage you in our passion and our work, we’re not doing our jobs.  And that’s why Moving Beyond Differences is so important.

We don’t (and can’t) do our work in a vacuum.  For most of us, work doesn’t stop at the end of the workday.  There’s always more research to be done, more questions to be answered, more current events demanding our attention, more trainings to plan, more books to write, more thinking to do.

All that work? It’s not just about Tanenbaum.  It’s about us – you and Tanenbaum.  We’re researching to respond to your questions, creating trainings and writing books to give you more tools.  We’re thinking about what we can do to most effectively create the kind of world we want to see, a world we know you want to see – that’s why you’re here reading; that’s why you support us.

We’re all  grappling with the same issues, and we want to know what you think.  Blogs can be anything from news sources to gossip rags to personal diaries, but they all share one thing: they all bring people together in conversation.  We want to share our stories and successes with you, and want to hear about yours.  Hearing your stories and understanding your struggles and concerns is not only fascinating, but, hopefully will create a community here where we can work with one another and where Tanenbaum can understand and respond even more directly to your needs as peacebuilders, teachers, doctors, nurses.

I also know that as you hear directly from our amazing program staff in their own unique and evocative voices, you’ll come to feel an even closer connection to the work we do here.

So I hope you’ll take some time not just to skim, but to engage.  We want you to become a part of the Tanenbaum community; we want you to respond and converse and work with us to create a safer, more respectful world.  Please comment.  Sign up for the feed.  Although we need financial resources to grow (if you want to throw some of that are way, we won’t turn it down!), we also need you, your support and your voices.

I’ll stop persuading now, and let the content speak for itself.  Welcome, and enjoy.
